He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Liquor Policy Reform and serves on the Cabinet Committee on Strong Economy, Legislative Review Committee, Select Standing Committee on Education, Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.
John Yap served as Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism from September 5, 2012 to March 2013.
Previously, John served as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the Chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board. John also served on several Select Standing Committees including Public Accounts and Crown Corporations. He has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture.
John attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and obtained his Masters of Business Administration.
