Committees

The main body of work done by the Chamber happens in the committees. There are five main committees as well as a number of sub-committees and task forces that cover issues important to businesses and their employees. By becoming involved, you will profit, too, by honing your communication and leadership skills, gaining new insights and increasing exposure for your company.

Task forces help to define our policies on the issues that are critical to your business or organization. These groups are not alone in formulating policy--we'll often ask for your views on certain key issues through meetings, mailings, and surveys. These exchanges provide valuable insight to the members of our policy committees, participation on issues with the City of Richmond and to the members of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

Membership in The Richmond Chamber of Commerce allows member businesses or representatives to participate on various Chamber committees. All of the committee and task force work is crucial to the accomplishment of the business plan.

COMMITTEES

Member Business Development Committee - Promotes and enriches business development for Chamber members and the business community in Richmond.
Sub Committees: International; 2010; Arts & Culture; Speaker Series & Event Development

Policy Committee - Develops and provides policy advice to the Board on government policy matters that may have an impact on the Richmond business community or that requires the Chamber to provide policy input to government.

Sub Committees: Transportation; Governance

Membership Committee - Actively promotes the Chamber as a leader in business within the community and to facilitate networking by organizing social events.

Communication Committee - Establishes the foundation for a solid, long term communication strategy with the media, various levels of government, and Chamber members.

TASK FORCES (links to events pages)

911 Awards - This ceremony honors the dedication and courage of members from the RCMP, Firefighters, Coast Guard, Ambulance/ Paramedics and Emergency Services Personnel who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to ensure our community safety.

Business Excellence Awards - This event recognizes the contributions of businesses to the economic prosperity of this community through entrepreneurial spirit and determination.

Annual Golf Tournament - The annual Golf Tournament is held every summer at a member golf course and provides an excellent opportunity for networking.
