Policy & Lobbying Agenda

Advocacy

The Chamber is setting the agenda on key policy issues. We contribute directly to our members’ success by acting as a dynamic business catalyst. Through the RCC, business has its views heard in the corridors of power at the local, provincial and federal levels through organized lobbying, relationships building and participation in relevant civic coalitions.

Public Policy
The Richmond Chamber of Commerce is working on your behalf to advance a policy agenda that ensures government efficiency, community safety, workforce education to ensure the business community has the resources, infrastructure, and opportunities to extend its global competitiveness and keep our region’s economy strong and growing.

Influence
In today’s tough economic environment, you need every edge possible. You know that feeling of panic when you hear about a new tax plan that could have an effect on your business! With the informed views of our members who do business in Richmond and working with other stakeholders you have a powerful ally on your side.

Key Initiatives
The Chamber of Commerce continues to work on developing a vision for Richmond’s future that will enable the city to strategically manage and grow its economy while enhancing its special character and quality of life.

Workforce Development
At a time when our economy is growing, businesses must find ways to attract, train, and retain qualified employees. The RCC sees workforce development as a top priority for its members. A qualified and well-trained workforce is perhaps the most critical factor to sustained growth and competitiveness.

Legislative Agenda
We encourage shifts in government thinking and policy to the best interest of Richmond businesses. The Board represents its membership on a broad base of issues including transportation, international trade, small business and federal regulations governing air travel.

Assistance
Every business, from the smallest one-person office to large multinational corporations, can use a helping hand. From our Richmond Chamber Business Resource Centre (RCBRC) to seminars and workshops, the RCC is dedicated to assisting your business in its efforts to grow.
