The Maipo Valley is the second-oldest wine-growing region in Chile and is among the most traditional in terms of what is grown there. French-inspired vineyards initiated Chile’s second wine boom roughly 150 years ago — and this boom is partially responsible for the valley’s famed Cabernet Sauvignon. And while this wine is still by far the region’s best-known, it is also home to some of the world’s finest Carménère. Santa Rita (Maipo): Founded in 1880, this is one of the Maipo Valley’s oldest wineries and one of the most popular Chilean wineries in the international market. With a strong lineup of exceptional wines, including the Ultra Pehuén Carménère, which has scored well consistently. In 2014, Santa Rita’s Medalla Real was voted the 4th best Cabernet Sauvignon in the world by the UK publication “The Drink Business”. An onsite historical museum features many Mapuche artifacts and is another highlight of this winery visit, which can also include a stroll through the vineyards and property; filled with many old trees and a stately mansion which has views over a lagoon. Cousiño Macul (Maipo): Founded in 1856, Cousiño Macul is the only 19th-century winery in Chile that remains 100% under the control of the original founding family. All of the Cousiño Macul reserve wines are grown, vinified, and bottled on the estate, producing limited quantities of fine wines. They make Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling, but, as is generally the case in the Maipo Valley, due to the favorable terroir, most of their production focuses on red wine. Just as in the world’s most renowned wineries, there is complete supervision from vineyard to glass in Cousiño Macul, whose mission is to produce world-class wines which are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley. Santiago has grown up and around the Macúl estate, which makes it easy to imagine the not-so-distant past when haciendas were the order of the day in this part of the city.

Optional: FD Casablanca Valley Incl. Lunch (Min. 4 pax):: CAD 280, min 1 paxDeparture time: 8:00 AM; Duration (approx.): 10 hours; Hotel pick up included
In 1999, after a detailed study of the terroir conditions the fourth generation of the wine-making family was incredibly confident about the potential of El Rosario Valley. They planted vineyards on the slopes of this protected area within San Antonio and became pioneers in the cool-climate Syrah in Chile! The modern wine cellar, designed by the team and the great architect Laurence Odjfell, was built in 2004. Every aspect of the winemaking process and the well-being of the Earth was taken into consideration. The organic and bio-dynamic agriculture practiced in the vineyards was harmonized with the natural landscape of the valley which merged with its surroundings. With a capacity of 600 thousand liters, it has a gravitational flow design that allows for delicate handling of the grapes at each stage of the process – from reception and selection to fermentation and storage in barrels. Casas del Bosque Vineyard: In 1993 the Italian descendants of the Cuneo family founded the winery in the Casablanca Valley – one of the coolest spots in the area. The old and large pines and olives trees, along with the small white houses of adobe, defined the name of “Casas del Bosque”. Currently, the vineyard has 235 hectares planted, exclusively dedicated to the production of cool-climate varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère come from the Maipo, Colchagua, and Chachapoal valleys. Today, Casas del Bosque produces 1.2 million bottles of wine annually, all made from grapes grown in that area. They have exported 80% of the wines to more than 50 countries around the world. The rest is distributed throughout Chile. One of Casas del Bosque’s biggest strengths is its soil. In the hills, red clay composites of volcanic origin lie on top of the decomposed granite layers formed 110 million years ago under the Pacific Ocean. This soil gives our wines their unique sea salt flavors. Today, it is one of the most important wineries in Casablanca.
Included: Services of an English-speaking guide, a bottle of water, wine tasting (shared service), and lunch at a Restaurant in the Casas del Bosque Vineyard.
Today, at the arranged time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home
