Our Statement on the BC Chamber of Commerce

The Richmond Chamber of Commerce remains a committed member of the BC Chamber of Commerce, alongside the majority of Chambers and Boards of Trade in British Columbia.

We are aware that recent decisions and challenges at the BC Chamber, including financial pressures and disrupted program rollouts, have led to criticism from some of our peers. These concerns are not new to us and we've discussed them directly in our leadership conversations with the BC Chamber.

Despite these challenges, the BC Chamber continues to deliver real value to our members. Through this affiliation, Richmond businesses benefit from province-wide advocacy, exclusive cost-saving programs, and a stronger voice in Victoria. Similarly, our membership in the Canadian Chamber of Commerce ensures that our members enjoy national representation and support.

Chambers of Commerce are most effective when we work together. Across Canada, Chambers represent over 200,000 businesses and are the most powerful grassroots advocates for economic growth. We believe that strength lies in collaboration.

We have confidence in the BC Chamber’s ability to adapt and move forward as our province's leading voice for business. As Fiona Famulak concludes her term as CEO in June, we thank her for her service and wish her the best. We look forward to working with her successor as the organization enters a new chapter in 2025.

The Richmond Chamber will be represented at the BC Chamber's 2025 AGM & Convention in Nanaimo this June by Chair Cila Kwong and President & CEO Shaena Furlong.
